Couponing

Well Thursday I did my first ever big couponing trip to the grocery store. Albertsons had buy one get one on some of there meats. I bought $168.00 worth of food and only spent $104.00. I saved $64.00 thats the most I have ever saved I couldn't believe it. I also went to walgreens that day and bought about $15.00 worth of stuff and only paid about $6.00. Plus I have $2.00 in register rewards to use on my next purchase.

I have been reading the Krazy coupon lady blog getting tips and such. Well I realized that the ads she has on there for Albertsons does not match up to my Albertsons ads and the pricing she gets for Walmart is also different from mine. Her website is very helpful though with find all the coupons out there and with all the tips she gives.

Yesterday I was able to get two air wick plug ins for free and some travel sized aquafresh toothpaste for free. Hopefully this week I can stack some coupons together to be able to pay either next to nothing or get it for free.

After the government shut down scare I vowed not to have to worry about being able to buy food for the kids. So I took tips from the girls at The Krazy Coupon lady. I went from the most I ever saved at the comissary being about $20.00 to saving about $64.00 at Albertsons. I always thought shopping on base saved me the most money with the whole not paying taxes thing., and using coupons. Honesty though I have learned that if I shop off base and shop the deals and stack coupons on top of the deals and/or store coupons, I actually am saving more. I guess you could say that should have been a no brainer but my hubby actually did most of the grocery shopping I would just clip the coupons that we would use. So I believed him when he saved the commissary was cheaper.

Well since he left a couple of months ago I switched to just shopping at Walmart since we shopped there already for non food items. I was spending the same amount just shopping at one store, then slowly my grocery bill started to go up, and its just me and the kids. I couldn't believe how the enflation could make my bill go up almost a $100.00 in a few short months.

So now I guess you could call me a hoarder since I have started a stock pile in the huge storage closet. Its not big yet but I am hoping to get it good enough that I don't have to worry about certain items. Now I won't go to the extreme that you see on the show Extreme Couponing on TLC.

no clothes lines

Well officially my housing area took down my clothes line. No I am not the only one that lost the clothes line. I am so mad, since I actually did use my clothes line to hang my diapers. When I asked the guys that were taking them down they said that a different style would be put up. Well I called housing to ask about this and was told that for me to get a clothes line I need to put in a renovations work order and they would eventually get me a clothes line if they have any. So I give up on the clothes line through housing its too much a hassle and I know I would have to call every other day to see about it. Since they still haven't fixed the tile in my house that warped when the shower had a leak last June when we moved in. So I am now using my sons old toy organizer as a drying rack till I buy a real one.

Kawaii cloth diaper review

Kawaii cloth diaper Review

Eco-friendly Bamboo Minky cloth diaper Mom label

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars
Price: $11.20 each

About the diaper directly from their site:

  1. Multiple Tummy Cross Over Snaps to fit smaller waist
  2. Hip Snap Buttons help prevent Wing Drooping
  3. Three Rows of Rise Snap Buttons transform the diapers from newborn thru potty
  4. Added Front Panel - Avoid Leaking for Babies Sleeping on their Tummy
  5. Wider Back Pocket with flap - easy stuff and remove inserts
  6. 30 % more moisture absorption, high fiber density thus it's heavier
My review:

I love that they are soft when you first get them. I have notice they are not as soft on the inside after I line dry them even putting them in the dryer for a bit hasn't helped. The outside says soft though. The liners really do absorb alot.

I stuff all my diapers after I get them dried and then put them away. With these diapers I always have to check the liner and make sure they are laying flat inside diaper, they tend to bunch up when not being used. The liner is really thin so it doesn't add much bulk to the diaper which is great since it makes it easier to put pants on her.

The hip snaps are wonderful since they prevent the sides from drooping. The sizing is perfect compared to another diaper brand I have. I have to snap down to medium setting so I know these should last time I decide to potty train.

I have used these for at night, just double stuffed them and so far no leaks. I like all the diapers I have tried she still gets up at least once wanting a diaper change and something to drink. But that's normal for my 18 month old.

Honestly these are great diapers, but I don't know how they will do in the dead of summer here in El Paso. They seem like they might make her hot but we will see. I will update this when that time comes though.

You can see them in a size comparison here.

Sunbaby Diapers Review

Sunbaby diapers 4.0

Rating: 4 out of 5 Stars
Price: between $4.50 - $5.00 per diaper but sold only in packages

Following pictures are directly from the Sunbaby diaper website:

About the Diaper taken directly from Sunbaby Diaper website:

The Sunbaby One Size Diapers are one of the most adjustable one size cloth diapers on the market! Adjust the diapers to fit babies 7-35 pounds and get a snug fit every time with the snap -adjusted in waist and leg.

Strong absorbent material with breathability keeps the skin dry and helps to prevent diaper rash. Our product absorbs urine fast and reduces the chances of developing bacteria from sleeping in a moist diaper.

Cost of different packages they offer:

12 SUNBABY 4.0 DIAPERS + 12 INSERTS $60.00
12 SUNBABY 4.0 DIAPERS + 24 INSERTS $78.00
24 SUNBABY 4.0 DIAPERS + 24 INSERTS $108.00
24 SUNBABY 4.0 DIAPERS + 48 INSERTS $144.00

Now for my review.
I used these diaper on my daughter from 15 months plus. Since I had just started cloth diapering. These would work great on younger babies. I love the different fabric patterns that I was able to get from Sunbaby diapers, also it was a great starter package for me since for 24 diapers I only paid $108.00.

I love the design of the diaper. With the back flap and the hip snaps. I have a chunky legged baby so she did get red marks on her legs even if I didn't use the hip snaps. She also has a small waist so using the last hip snap was impossible to do because then the diaper would bunch and become uncomfortable for her.. My daughter is 18 months and about 23 lbs and she is on the last rise adjustment and no hip snaps, but she fits the waist.

We have had no leaks with the Sunbaby diaper even at night, I double stuff at night. She wakes up atleast once needing a diaper change but she is a heavy wetter at night and gets uncomfortable. She even did that with disposable diapers. The hip snaps are great in preventing drooping on the sides. The lining is very soft. You do have to wash them quite a bit when you first get them since there is a bit of odor from being packaged for so long.

It took about three weeks to get my order in. They come from China so that is too be expected and my word of advice don't call USPS when they get stuck in customs since they will just try to make it seem like you got scammed because you are dealing with China. The USPS was the only problem I had with the whole order and shipping process. I also had ordered before Christmas so that also made my shipping time take longer than what I have heard from others that had ordered Sunbaby diapers.

You can find a size comparison on this diaper along with others here.

Go Green Pocket Diapers Review

Go Green Pocket Diaper "The Champ"

Rating : 4 stars out of 5 stars
Price: $14.95

Took the following directly from Go Green Pocket diaper site

About the Diaper:
  • two rows of waist snaps
  • extra row of rise snaps
  • waist tab overlap snaps
  • multi-colored waist snaps aid in sizing
  • double leg gusseting
  • two pocket openings (no need to remove inserts before washing)
  • two bamboo-microfiber blend 3-layer inserts included
  • Snaps on inserts insert and diaper together in the wash (no sorting laundry!) and allow for optional AI2 use (liner recommended if your baby is sensitive to microfiber)
  • top stitching for added durability
  • premium, glossy snaps
  • soft bamboo-blend microsuede lining never pills and looks new after washing

Okay so I liked the idea of the diaper but when I used it I did not like the fact the liner snaps in the front. I had alot of trouble with that part to where when I would pull the diaper in the front over my daughter so I could snap it, it wouldn't move and I would have to either pull really hard or lift her butt off the floor just so I could close the diaper. Which would just pull it out from her butt, so I would have to reposition it under her. The liners also don't snap together but each does have a snap so you can snap one of them into the diaper. I did try it without snapping in the liners which I liked better but I think it is pretty hard to stuff the diaper, double stuffing the liners is really tough to do. The liners are a little wider than the diaper so they don't lay flat in it. The diaper does gape in the front a little bit. It is a pretty absorbent diaper. I use it as a nighttime diaper so I use both liners. All in all its not a bad diaper. It works great for what I use it for, we haven't had any leaks during the night with this diaper so far. I haven't tested this diaper on a baby only a 17 month old. It does look like it can go pretty small though. To see size comparison of this diaper and other diapers please click here.

Coming soon

Pretty soon I will do a actual review on the diapers I have and that I am getting soon once they arrive and I can test them out. Hopefully I will be able to add a new brand of cloth diapers one at a time. I will put them under the label of Cloth Diaper Reviews.

had fun tonight

Well I had fun tonight trying to win some free stuff from It's The Cloth That Counts blog. They had a ton of giveaways tonight. Which will still go on till about midnight there time. Can't wait to see if I win anything.

Hubby is yelling at his xbox again which is normal around hear. Since he says they got paid off which I hope someday I learn how he computer on his football game got paid off. He is also trying to talk me into letting him get the rest of his sleeve tattoo finished on his forearm. I think I might just let him do it since he goes back overseas soon and he doesn't get to do what he wants there like he does here. So far his family tattoo arm as he puts it is looking really good.

Well Jasmine's new twin bedroom set should be here within the next 10 days. I hope it gets here before Matt leaves, so he can help me put it together. Also my new bedroom set should be here soon too and I really hope that gets here before Matt leaves so he can sleep in it before he leaves. Right now we have just a mattress on the floor since our platform bed broke when we tried to rearrange the room after taking the crib out of our room. Stupid berber carpet. so if I say Jasmine beat me in the head its cause my bed is on the floor and she can get on the bed so easily. Which I think she likes and its gonna be a real change when she can't climb on my bed anymore. Wonder how she is gonna take that?

Connor also got his new bunk bed mattresses since his old mattress was way to tall for his bunk bed that he got after I broke his loft bed trying to put it back together when housing moved us back in June before Matt left. Hopefully Connor's old mattress isn't too tall for Jasmine's new twin bed.

Oh ya after not having hot water since the first day it snowed here in El Paso, Tx I finally got hot water back. No thanks to the maintenance here in housing. I actually fixed the problem myself by putting the insulation thing back on the frozen pipe that was just laying on the ground. After putting it back on I had hot water within a couple of hours. Why they didn't put it back on the pipe was beyond me, cause if they would have done it I probably had hot water sooner. Than again I should have just looked at the water heater myself when the hot water went out, but I guess I got lazy with being able to call someone to come and fix the problem for me.

Well time to go put diapers in dryer since I was able to wash them today. YAY!! Now I have pretty much a full small pack of disposable diapers. Hmm I guess I can use them when we go out.

Snow in El Paso day 2

Okay so it snowed here yesterday. Which just happened to cause my pilot light in my water heater to go out, then cause my hot water pipes to freeze. Yes I have cold water that works in most of the faucets but no hot water which is just weird. The maintenance people said there is nothing for them to do. Which just sucks since I had to buy some sposies till the hot water is back, hopefully soon or I will have to find a laundry mat to clean diapers. The weather channel said its suppose to warm back up tomorrow yay which means the pipes should unfreeze. Jasmine keeps trying to pick out cloth diapers out of her drawer that are clean but I just dont want to dirty up more when I have no clue when the stinkin hot water will be back. GRR this sucks.

Plus side I ordered some Go Green Pocket Champ diapers, some ebay diapers and some Kawaii diapers. So hopefully by the end of the month I should have another 27 diapers, which will bring my stash up to 52 with only one that is too small for Jasmine since its a medium. So 51 wearable diapers, maybe I can wash diapers every other day then. Since I will actually have enough liners since some of the new diapers are coming with two liners per diapers, so every diaper will actually have a liner now. As soon as all the diapers come in I will take some pics.

I am really excited about trying the Go Green Pocket Diaper. Their Champ diaper just looks like it would be great for nighttime with the double leg gusseting. Also snaps on inserts keep insert and diaper together in the wash (no sorting laundry!) and allow for optional AI2 use (liner recommended if your baby is sensitive to microfiber) which I think is a great idea.

Snowing in El Paso

Well my hubby has been home since Friday, and I am enjoying having him home for two weeks. He has been such a big help. Jasmine had her surgery, she did great. Its been fun trying to keep cotton balls in her ears. The doctor said she was her best patient for before surgery. I did have a little trouble when she was coming to but popsicles were like magic just like her favorite milk sippy. As you can see in the picture of her when we finally got out of recovery. she was so tired that day she actually took two more naps. She also was as wild as she normally is when she wasn't sleeping. But I did have to stop her antibiotic after my husband came home because he said the rash she was getting was a allergenic reaction. Which I think was right since her rash started to go away once we stopped the medicine. Since surgery Jasmine has also been saying more word like sounds. She also says "Da" a lot and wants to show her daddy everything. Its just too cute. So I think she can hear so much better now that the fluid is out of her ears.

Its also snowing here in El Paso, TX. Its suppose to snow till tomorrow which sucks. I have already seen one car try to make it up the hill they call a road in my neighborhood and they couldn't make it. Most of El Paso is having rolling black outs. All the schools have shut down for a snow day which was a shock for me since last year when we had snow they just had a delay.

doctors appointments

Okay so I have been a little busy and distracted. Jasmine has seen the ENT, had her hearing check, and we just did her pre op appointment today. She still had fluid on her right ear during the hearing test so we couldn't test her right ear. Her left ear has mild to normal hearing. We go in tomorrow for her surgery. Which should be fun telling a 16 month old she can't her sippy after midnight. We have to be at the hospital at 0530 which means I have to wake up super early and get both kids ready. Take Connor next door to my neighbors house, which she is a saint for getting up that early so help me out with Connor. Which she will be taking Connor to school for me and picking him up if I am not back in time.

Side note my hubby should be home soon for 2 weeks, which will be great. I can't wait to help some help around the house, especially with the kids. Since they have just been driving me crazy. Jasmine has been the typical 16 month old getting into everything. Climbing on chairs (which she has managed to make the chair fall with her into and get a bloody nose) and climbing on tables. Connor has been doing the whole lieing (sorry if spelled wrong even spell checker isn't getting that one) thing lately and I just don't know how to nip that in the butt. Plus his room is never clean despite me asking 20 times a day and now there is this funky odor in there and I just don't know what it is and its driving me crazy not knowing.

ENT

Well Jasmine will be having surgery down on the 25th of this month to get tubes put in her ears and to have adenoids removed. I am so stressed out with all the doctors appointments and now the surgery and Matt coming home soon.

so reason I haven't been on

Well Jasmine's eczema has been acting up again. It was getting better since I started putting socks on her feet after I put lotion on her. I have been trying to make sure she doesn't run too much in the house. Since she can slip on all the tiled floors in here. Which I hate having so much tiles I miss having carpet in most of the rooms but the bathroom, kitchen and laundry room. Oh no not here in base housing in El Paso its all tile in some houses here the first place we had was like that. Now we have a different place since the AC was jacked in the place we were first put in. Which I couldn't believe that after a year of telling them something was wrong with the ac they finally sent someone into the attic and found a huge gaping hole in the ducts. Guess they just thought I was crazy since when we had first moved in I was pregnant with Jasmine.

But back to what I was talking about. The place I live in now has carpet only in the bedrooms and its Berber carpet. Where I am from Berber carpet was not common in places that were rented out. I serious hate Berber carpet only good thing is it repels stains.

So I have been running after Jasmine trying to catch her so she doesn't do a face plant most of the time. Also she has been climbing on my desk and any other table in the house if I turn my back on her for more than five seconds. That and she gets snacks out of the pantry when I am not looking. I so need to buy another two baby gates for the kitchen since the child safety locks are only on the cabinets not the pantry and she broke one child safety lock when she kept trying to force it open. believe it.

Also been trying to deal with doctors for both Kids. I have to turn Connor's IEP in to the doctors office which they just opened up a new clinic and that's where I have to go. Which I have no clue on where it is at. So I got to figure that one out since I suck when it comes to directions and driving in a area that I don't know too well. Which is one reason I hate El Paso with them trying to put in all these stupid interstate style roads in with off ramps. It just makes driving here worst for me I get so confused which is why I really wish my husband was here. Dealing with audiology and Speech Pathology for Connor, then the ENT for Jasmine which was she is going to a ENT tomorrow is beyond me. I would have thought that we would see someone for either her eczema or or asthma but no we are seeing the ENT. Makes no sense, ya she has had a couple of ear infections but I will be damned if they tell me they need to put tubes in her ears. Well its late and I got to be able to get up in the morning to take Connor to school and then deal with finding a parking space at the hospital that is going to be fun hopefully it won't be so bad since I scheduled for a 11am appointment

Sunbaby Diapers mainly

Okay so I know its been awhile since I wrote on here. I finally received my Sunbaby Diapers. I love them so far, only thing that is frustrating me so far is no matter what I do I leave little red marks on Jasmine's legs from the elastic. The hips snaps are great but I have tried to loosen it as much as possible but it really hasn't helped. Jasmine also broke out in a rash on the second day so I rewashed them thinking I didn't do enough rinses. Which adding another rinse as solved the problem she also didn't like the whole cloth wipe and a spray bottle to well. So I am still using regular wipes but I am thinking of switching to those flushable ones so I don't have to make sure I remove the wipes when she does a number 2 and I dump stinkies in to the toilet. So I did end up using sposies while I rewashed and rinsed all the cloth diapers but once they were all washed I ended up just using one of the wipes as a barrier between the diaper rash cream and her diaper. Since she kept pointing at the cloth diapers and saying "this" and also running off with them, while I was stuffing the liners into them. Connor and Jasmine ended up turning it into a game, she would grab a arm full of liners (I had the liners separated from the diapers) and run off with them, then I would say thief and Connor would run after her to get them back. They were just giggling up a storm and Jasmine thought it was so hilarious.

Jasmine will not let me put a sposie on her now, she runs straight to her drawer with her cloth diapers and starts point and saying "this". So I have been letting her pick which one she wants to wear. Now I just have to get her to understand that I have been stuffing the solid color diapers for nighttime diapers. So I ended up with four that can't be stuffed. Above is a picture of 24 out of 25 cloth diapers that I have. My favorite prints are the skulls and the pink stars both are the black Sunbaby diapers and the one Ooga Booga one from Little Pigeon Diaper Company.

During the day I have used both brands and they are both really nice diapers. I have had no leaks so far with both brands during the day. Both brands start to get squishy and feel a little cold when you ouch the cover at about 3-4 hours, but no leakage so far. Now I will say I do change them every two - three hours but I wanted to see how it would do during the day with only one liner in it.

Now for nighttime I have only used the Sunbaby diaper so far since I honestly don't think I can fit to liners into the Little Pigeon Diaper Company diaper. I use two liners in the Sunbaby diaper. Jasmine goes to bed about 7:30pm and usually she wakes up about once in the middle of the night which is any where from midnight till about 4:30am wanting a new sippy. So far no leaks. Even the one last night where she slept from about 7:30pm till about 4:30am no leaks but it sure was full.

So honestly in my opinion for the price of the Sunbaby diapers and quality of the cloth diaper I do think they are a steal. Just don't order around a holiday like I did. My Sunbaby diapers were shipped out same day as I paid and only took a day to get to the US from China but since it was a holiday they sat forever in New York. I paid on the 22 of December I received them on the 8th of January which honestly isn't bad. But when you have the USPS who it got transferred to when it hit the US tell you they don't know what is going on and they have no info on your package and for you to contact the sender to start a investigation it on it because it just has to have the wrong address on it (that is what the lady at USPS tracking phone number told me as soon as I answered China for her question of what country is was coming from.) I could go into a lot of negative remarks on the USPS tracking but I won't.

been busy

Okay so it has been pretty busy around here since I last blogged. My dad has ended up in the hospital twice. The first time for a stroke and they told him he has emphysema. Then he went in again for chest pains and they told him one of the valves in his heart isn't working right and that he has diabetes. They will be doing some stress test on him tomorrow. I have been on the phone with my mom so much yesterday and today that I barely have time for the kids, but we did bake today. I have noticed that when life gets crazy for me I bake something.

Jasmine has just been keeping me on my toes by climbing on everything if I turn my back on her for 5 seconds. So that has been keeping me pretty busy too. She is getting to be such a handful and I can't wait to see how Matt takes her being into everything when he come homes for 2 weeks. Jasmine's eczema has also been acting up he poor little ankles no matter how much lotion on put on them, keeps itching apparently. Since when I got her up this morning one of her ankles was just glistening like how a scrape would when its not bad enough to bleed. Which when I had to run to Walmart to get milk and eggs I put socks on her since its cold outside and by time we got home there was a tiny bit of blood on the sock. So I have been putting neosporin on her ankles to try to get them to heal enough so I can put lotion on her. Poor thing its just her ankles that get really dry and itchy.

I also tried out the Yiddle Dapper diaper that I won and I loved it. Jasmine also did too, she was pretty upset when it had to be takin off for her bath after lunch. Its the first cloth diaper she has tried on, she has worn cloth training pants not too long ago when she had a really bad rash. Which because of the rash I am converting to cloth diapers plus also the cute fabrics was just too much to resist. I am really wishing I started cloth diapering 6 years when I had my son. Side note I am still waiting for my Sunbaby order hopefully it comes in sometime this week. Apparently it sat in Customs for about 8 days due to Christmas and then with also New Years that also puts a delay on me getting them. I can't wait to try them out on Jasmine. I am also hoping to get them soon so I don't have to go buy some sposies, which I should have enough sposies to last a week or two. So I guess you can say I am praying to get that order in soon. Next I just have to figure out how to tell hubby I switch to cloth diapers and hopefully talk him into getting a diaper sprayer and some wetbags when he is home. Right now I have a laundry bag in a small
trash can which it is cloth and it is twice the size of the trash
can I bought. But hey so far it is working.

We also made brownies from scratch today and they were really good. Jasmine helped me since Connor didn't want to, but he did show up in time to lick the beaters. Of course he did right since brownie batter is just awesome. Here is some pictures and the recipe we did. I got it off of www.food.com this link should take you straight to recipe and all the reviews.
